Testing Testing

This is a drill. Do not be alarmed. Go about your normal business quietly and calmly. Repeat, this is a drill.

If you normally reach this site through Newsnow, your joy at Our Great Victory has been tempered by TOMM’s absence in your life, as the latest post has not registered for some unknown reason. Goodness knows how you managed to pull through.

So there it is, down there, look, just begging to be read and digested.

If you have read it, because you searched for the site, linked via another site or subscribe, I take my hat off to you, and you have the honour of being one among a verrryyyy select group. It’s the same piece, except that I’ve now spelt Ibrahimovic correctly. But not Robinho. Frankly, it’s probably not worth reading again just for that, but hey, that’s up to you.

Special thanks to cutekidbedroomsets.com for the link and for the person who reached via that. Really. I have no idea.

I’m checking to see if this one gets through. If this doesn’t appear in newsnow in 30 seconds, a stiff letter in green ink will follow. That or I’m screwed.

  1. As a fully paid up member of the “Toon Army” I salute you on the defeat of Milan last night.

For making gooners cry the world over, I congratulate you, keep it up.

    • It’s working then. Or are you cutiekidbedrommsets?

Thanks for the congrats, must have been dull for the neutral but we’ve entertained the world enough this season. Or perhaps Harry should now teach the world to sing, in perfect harmony?

  3. Not sure when it came into effect, but in the past I’ve noticed blogs not appearing on NN but appearing on other feeds. Spoke to NN, people have complained about the colourful language and therefore thus, in came the filter.

you really want to put some thought into your ‘Headlines’ yours are very weak and unatractive, a good Headline will sell your article, no argument here, Newspapers have been doing it for years.

That’s it! Had me moan for Today!

    • Thanks Bob, constructive, not a moan. I do ironically understated headlines…OK then, unattractive..!

The link is a site that lists Spurs posts plus football books. I’ve left it up because they kindly push my stuff around twitter, so good people with taste, clearly.

    • Click posts, top right of blog, then TOMM comes through to the blog reader of your choice.

This is great, not only does this throwaway rubbish post get more comments than many an earnest match report, I can also get away with sounding like I know about techie stuff.

    • See above. I’ve got away with it….

For those of you who don’t know the reference, the proper journo in the Times, who knows about the game as he is a professional, scored Sandro a match rating of 5 on Wednesday. I went for the ‘on God’s right hand’ option, of course, which most of you seem to tend towards.

      But what do I know?

I might be on Ian Wright’s show tomorrow in the evening phone in. They are calling me re Spurs and the CL success.

      • Not sure if you saw his retraction, which was based on the very odd “fact” that he has to submit the player scores at half time.
Which makes no sense at all – as the full report is there – does the person who does player scores have to go home at 9…

        • No, didn’t know this. Shows what a malarkey the grading is.Don’t even see the whole match.

I’ve done the aftermatch grading for the fans’ comments on the Guardian. Whilst I wanted to be honest, I suddenly found myself wanting to protect the players in public, especially at the time Gomes who was being hammered from all over the place.

That and driving round the Tottenham one way system meant some meaningless figures.

          Regards,

          Al

  5. This is not a blog.
    It’s a blog about a blog that didn’t appear.

    Tried the old headline ruse.
Blogged under the title ‘better than sex’.
    Nobody read it ,as usual.
But ‘Is there anybody out there?’ did quite well.

    Disd we play this week?
Expect it was a boring 0-0

    • It’s the Seinfeld of blog posts. A post about nothing gathers a momentum of its own.

Go for ‘boring 0-0’ for your Milan report, see what the response is.

      Regards,

      Alan

  6. Regarding headlines, via news feeds, they mean very little as there’s a culture of people clicking on the headline then not bothering to read anything and move on. Headlines do not equate to quality.
